ABOUT US
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
One day, a soccer player couldn't play soccer anymore. A bone disease in the knee prevented him from running. Seeing the player bored, the player's father admonished him to take up a different hobby, and showed him the old scroll saw in the shed.

Since then, the reluctant past-time has transformed into a full-time passion. A hobby has opened up a world of solutions for problems, a medium of expression.

PRESENT WORK
That soccer player? Me. I'm Steven. Now it's been years since then, I'm about to be twenty; and my knee is mostly fixed. Life goes on.

But woodworking remains. I have expanded from scrollsawing small ornaments to furniture design and building, joinery study, and carving wooden spoons in the spirit of the Sloyd tradition. I'm heavily inspired as of lately by the Japanese craft mentality; turning even a wooden spoon or bowl into an item of master craftsmanship.

While I'm in college currently, I do my best to continuously create; feel free to send me an email or talk to me on Instagram if you would like to purchase an existing creation or commission a piece yourself.
TWIN MAPLES ETHOS
My personal life experiences have culminated in my own woodworking ethos. While I admit it's bound to change over time, this ethos revolves the concepts of sustainability, practicality, DIY/Maker Mentality, and sensible tradition.

I try to approach sustainability sensibly; I attempt to work only with American lumber. But at the same time I will not throw away a scrap of an exotic lumber if I'm given it. Reducing consumption is better than Reusing, Reusing is better than Recycling, Recycling is better than tossing to the garbage.
